September Admissions

Due to the quality of training, we offer a small class program and can only admit up to twenty international students every year. There are no limits on admitting our local students once you apply, meet and make all necessary commitments before our stipulated deadlines.

The mainstream program is one (1) year program and a six (6) months program which comprises of both our intensive training and a six (6) months internship with a reputable fashion house assigned or approved by the school.

All internship placements are made by the school. The current admission being run is for our September 2023 training year. All students undergo internship unless communicated otherwise by the Administrative Office.

SESSIONS:

There are three main stream sessions:

Morning/Regular Class: Both one year & six months programs: – Monday to Friday 9.00 am to 5.00 pm (beginner’s level) and 9.00 am to 3.00 pm (intermediate to advanced level).

Weekend Class: Saturdays & Sundays; 9.00 am to 5.00 pm and 1.00 pm to 5.00 pm respectively (beginner’s level to advanced level).

APPLICATION DEADLINE: 30th September 2023 with classes commencing on September 18, 2023 for Morning Class and September 23, 2023 for Weekend Class.

There will be no late admissions for the September Admissions this year. Applicants who register after the start of class will bear the full responsibility of being up to date with the supervisory assistance of Tutors. Kindly note that students who enrol in the late admissions still graduate with the mainstream Students.

OUR COURSES:

In the year, you take five mandatory courses:

  1. Fashion Illustration
  2. Pattern Drafting
  3. Garment Construction
  4. Entrepreneurship & Business Management (EBM)
  5. Accessories & Embellishment (A&E)

REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants for entry into the program must have completed at least Junior High School (JHS) and/or be a mature student who has the desire to learn fashion.Kindly note, JHS graduates or candidates who are 18 years and above, can or cannot communicate effectively in the English language can apply (Terms & Conditions Apply).

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT & PROCESS

Ability to communicate in the English language, 18 years and above.

NOTE: We do not require a student to have grades as a condition for admission. We believe in giving everyone an opportunity to build their dreams.

TO APPLY: Pick up a form from the school Administration or Apply Online (at a fee; GHC 100 or equivalent to US dollar). Online applicants can pay through our MOMO A/C: 0244479079 – AFRA K FASHION SCHOOL.

After Applying, submit forms with four (4) passport-sized pictures and a copy of your national ID Card. Online Applicants are to scan and attach (And submit hard copies if admitted).

Upon Admission You will be scheduled for an online or face to face interview depending on your application process and qualification.

FEES: Our school fees cover: Tuition Fees, Selected training materials, assigned school’s sewing machine, Registration fees, T-shirt (uniform-only Mondays & Saturdays), Departmental fee, and Maintenance Fee.

SCHOOL FEES PAYMENT STRUCTURE

Domestic Students ONLY – Main Stream:

The fees (Morning, and Weekend Class) is GHC 6,500 or equivalent in US dollars.

Payment: A minimum payment of 50% is required before class begins. This is equivalent to GHC 3,250 or equivalent in US dollars. The outstanding fee is to be paid within THREE (3) EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALMENTS.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ONLY – MAIN STREAM:

The fees (Morning, and Weekend Classes) is $1,500 or equivalent in Ghana cedis.

Payment: A minimum payment of 70% is required before class begins. This is equivalent to $1,050. The outstanding fee is to be paid within THREE (3) EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALMENTS.

NOTE: A breach in payment of the outstanding fees attracts a penalty charge of 10% on a monthly basis.

PRIVATE CLASS

Applicable to both Domestic and International Students

All private classes are tailored to suit the availability and customized training of the applicant under the curriculum and schedule of the school.

Private training schedules have a limited class size of five (5) students, with a shorter duration of training. This schedule is usually offered as a private class for candidates who need customized training and time schedule from the mainstream training calendar.

NOTE: WE ONLY OFFER PRIVATE TRAININGS ON WEEKENDS AND EVENINGS AT A SPECIAL FEE.

All courses and projects are mandatory in the private training class and learners graduate with the mainstream students upon completing their training.

NOTE: Candidates who wish to take the private class but do not necessarily need all the courses can request for a special customized training package at a fee from the school admission office.

OTHER PROGRAMMES OFFERED

Bridal Mastery: – three (3) months training – GHC 3800 or equivalent in US dollars (Interested applicants must have at least an intermediate fashion design and sewing ability). Does not cover training materials.

Digital Illustration: – three (3) months training – GHC 3500 equivalent to $585.

Polish Your Seam stressing: – two (2) months – Three times in a week – GHC 2500 or equivalent in US dollars (Candidate must have a seam stressing skill before applying)

Kids Fashion: –Training during long vacations and every weekends – GHC6000 (ages of 12 to 15 years) or equivalent in US dollars.

OTHER FEES

Applies to both Domestic and International Students

There will be a COMPULSORY mid-year class project dabbed “Yaba”. I t is a fashion show where the student and a model partake in a runway exhibition to showcase their creativity.

Project fee is GHC 600 or equivalent in US dollars (This fee is subject to amendment). This Class Project applies to all sessions of class regardless of the duration unless communicated otherwise by the Administrator.

Graduation fees is GHC1500 or equivalent in US dollars, which must be completed before the Eighth month of school (This fee is subject to amendment).

STUDENTS ACCOMMODATION

Both Domestic and International Students

School Hostel Facility:  GHC 3500 or equivalent in US dollars. It comes with a bed and a mattress ONLY. And room is shared per the size of the room space, with a minimum of four (4) persons in a room and a maximum of five (5) persons in a room.

Public / External Hostel Facility: Standard accommodation prices within the proximity of the school Campus is between GHC 400 to 600 per month (or equivalent in US dollars per month) based on a one-person accommodation. The fee only covers the room and a bathroom with no extra facility (such as a bed or a mattress). Interested persons are solely responsible to engage the services of Room Agents for such rooms at a fee.

STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO SHARE ACCOMMODATION TO EASE THE FINANCIAL BURDEN PER INDIVIDUAL. THIS PRACTICE HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL WITH NO COMPLAINTS SO FAR. (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARE USUALLY PAIRED)

FUNDING

Unfortunately, we have no funding available for international students.  However, if you check with the Afra k International Student Services Office/ Students Affairs, a representative may be able to advise you more appropriately on student living concerns/issues than me for I am an academic advisor.  The contact is +233240187828. (This applies to only our international students.)

Scholarships Grants are available to ONLY domestic students at the moment. (Please Contact the Admission Office).
